Tornado

So I'm sure most of you have heard about the tornado that hit close to our home on Thursday. It formed 8 miles west of our house and traveled north through the town of Windsor leaving a wake of destruction behind it. It happened at about 11:45am and I was actually driving home from Brynlee's dance class. The winds were really ferocious during my drive. I had to dodge a couple of large tree branches in the road and even thought that my car might roll over. The stop light on 47th Ave and 10th St. was knocked out of power and that was kinda interesting. Luckily everyone remembered to treat it like a 4-way stop. When I got home, I saw on the news what was going on. It made for an unproductive day for me as I was glued to my T.V. as more bad weather was headed our way. My sis, Courtney, was without power at her house most of the day. My sisters in Ft. Collins were under lock down at school. It was crazy. We feel blessed that our home and families are safe and sound and our hearts go out to those who were not so lucky. I'm sure we will be involved in some relief effort in the coming weeks. I took some pix of some of the devastation nearest to me as we drove by. This is actually near where the one fatality was. You can see down power lines, broken trees and a destroyed barn. There is also an area where there was an old house and vehicles that is now destroyed. If you click on the pix, you will be able to see more detail. It's really intetresting what they say about tornados leveling one house and the house next door is left standing. I got goosebumps driving by here because on one side of the street were these pictures and on the other side were houses left untouched and even hay bales stacked 4 or 5 high...not one was even knocked down. The wrath of Mother Nature.
