Tan????

Picking paint seems like fun until you come to terms with the fact that there is no such thing as TAN...or at least not in the sense that I thought of that color before now. Did you know that ALL tans have either a pink, yellow or green undertone? There is no such thing as a true tan. At the home improvement stores they have paint chip cards that read...yellow-toned neutrals, rose-toned neutrals and green-toned neutrals. Isn't that an oxymoron? Oh neutral...where are you???? I just want a lovely tan interior that doesn't feel like the warm glow of the sun, flower petals or the grass. Picking paint colors is almost as stressful as finishing the hardwood floors. This would be so much easier for me if it was someone else's house!

CeCe - I went thru this last year...what a turmoil - you're right I had no idea about the whole TAN paint color - thought it would be easy! I started out with colors that ended up looking like I painted the walls with foundation makeup! Yuck! Then I found Macadamia and Latte from Sherwin Williams and they were like heaven on my walls - so pretty and amazing how it looked like I had just bought all new furniture once the color was up on the walls! Those two colors have a lot or gray in them - I was shocked by that --Brigette's not a gray person - but gray was the key...also once I had those paint samples I could take them to other paint stores and have a great "TAN" to go of off...Also and sorry for the long comment -- the house we're renting right now has an awesome color painted on all the walls and I fell in love with it immediately - it's Kwal Paint Desert Tumbleweed color # 8723M -- again with the gray - don't know if I'm helping...but when I read your post - the "TAN" search of 2007 came flashing back - had to share! Good Luck.
